It was an honor to have attended the 10 year celebration for Lucas County Adult Treatment Court today! Judge Ian English and the rest of his team and community partners do an amazing job serving individuals with substance use disorders. We are thankful to have worked alongside such an amazing group and look forward to continue working with them!

Collective trauma is heavy, and processing the recent events at the Old West End Festival takes time. You don’t have to carry it alone. 💚
In partnership with the Toledo Lucas County Public Library, our staff will be at the Kent Branch Library throughout the week to provide a safe space, emotional support, and information & connections to community resources.
Our Programs & Services team have been doing outreach at libraries across the county to meet our neighbors exactly where they are. When the library leadership saw the need this week, they didn't hesitate to call us in to offer immediate support. We are incredibly grateful to them for recognizing this need, acting quickly, and continuing to serve as a true anchor for our region.
“We are constantly battling the stigma that after events like this, people should just 'be strong,' hold their head up high, or pull themselves up by their bootstraps. But we know that's not how trauma impacts people. People do need help, and there is help out there.”
— Elijah Jones, Director of Programs & Services

Today, after 31 years of service, our very own D/S Shawn McMahon is retiring. Shawn has spent the last 11 years of his career assigned to the Drug Abuse Response Team. The impact he’s made in Lucas County can’t be captured in a single post. Shawn has worked with countless clients and their families over the years and seen so many individuals overcome the disease of addiction. If you follow us on TikTok, be sure to check out his exit interview that was recorded today to hear more directly from him. We’re all going to miss him around the office and wish him the best of luck in the next chapter of his career!

Thank you to the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department for being an amazing partner and helping DART incorporate its first ever peer support specialist! This wouldn’t have happened without their grant and continued support of the team. They identified Neighborhood Health Association as the partner to help DART connect with clients in ways that we previously couldn’t. Krystin has done amazing work in the short couple months she’s been working with the unit! Thank you 13abc for covering this story!

Last Saturday, we held our 2nd Operation Bridge event at Uptown Green Park. We want to thank all of our community partners that weathered the chilly temperatures with us to make this another successful event! We had approximately 100 individuals stop by and were provided with resource information, hygiene kits, harm reduction supplies, and some food and water. Thank you to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County, and the Toledo Lucas County Homelessness Board for planning this event.
