The end of the school year is filled with meaningful traditions for our 8th Grade leaders and graduates, and this year was no exception. Two of the most anticipated academic milestones were the Jennifer Paul Debates and the Monologues. After weeks of preparation, students showcased their confidence, poise, and dedication in front of teachers, classmates, and families. ๐
For the debates, students arrived prepared with thoroughly researched arguments, rebuttals, opening and closing statements, and proposed legislation. Established in 1983 to honor Jennifer B. Paul, a Sheridan graduate from the Class of 1974, the Jennifer B. Paul Memorial Debates challenge each graduating class to engage with timely and relevant political issues while developing critical thinking and public speaking skills.
During the Monologues, students brought literary characters to life through performances inspired by books of their choosing. Spread throughout the school like a living wax museum, 8th Graders remained frozen in character until visitors โunfrozeโ them with a special phrase. Families and students traveled from room to room, experiencing each unique performance.
We are incredibly proud of our graduates for the talent, creativity, and intellectual curiosity they demonstrated during these cherished traditions. Their hard work and brilliance were on full display, making both events memorable celebrations of their growth and accomplishments. ๐ฆ

We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather and spending quality time outdoors as we look back on our incredible Field Day! โ๏ธ๐โค๏ธ
Although we had to postpone the event because of rain, it was well worth the wait. From tug-of-war and relay races to the exciting 8th Grade pudding contest, the day was filled with teamwork, strategy, laughter, and unforgettable memories! ๐
A special thank you goes to our amazing kitchen staff for preparing a delicious schoolwide cookout that kicked off the festivities.
Thank you to everyone who made the day such a success.
Go Sheridan Owls! ๐ฆ

Congratulations to Sheridanโs Class of 2026! ๐๐ฆ
Earlier this week, we had a wonderful graduation celebration for our community. During Mondayโs dinner for graduates and their families, Ms. Martin spoke to each student about their unique strengths and shared poignant advice for the future. We also heard meaningful reflections from our student leaders and 8th Grade advisors.
On Tuesday morning, students officially received their diplomas from Ms. Martin and walked out of Sheridan for the last time alongside their kindergarten buddies.
To our brilliant Class of 2026: We are excited to see all that you will accomplish in high school and beyond. It has been an honor to watch you grow, and we are incredibly proud to call you Sheridan alumni. โค๏ธ๐ฆ๐

For the second year in a row, we had the incredible honor of hosting middle school students from Colegio Carol Baur in Mexico. During their weeklong visit, they attended classes at Sheridan, stayed with Sheridan host families, and traveled around the city with our students.
This initiative is such a unique opportunity for our students to engage with peers from another culture, learn firsthand about life in Mexico, and share about their lives here in the DC area.
Thank you for coming to visit! Our students had so much fun sharing our school and connecting through sports, music, and dancing. What an unforgettable experience for all of us. โค๏ธ๐ฆ
