🛳️ Every hour a ship spends waiting at port has consequences. Delays at ports don’t just affect shipping schedules—they increase trade costs, disrupt supply chains, and ultimately impact businesses, workers, and consumers worldwide.

The latest Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) offers a clear, data- driven view of how ports are performing—and why it matters. Based on real-world vessel time in port across more than 400 locations, the report highlights a global system still under pressure:

➤ Efficiency has weakened slightly overall, with longer vessel turnaround times on average compared to the previous year
➤ Port performance and supply chain stress are closely linked, with disruptions in global shipping affecting ports—and delays in ports feeding back into wider bottlenecks
➤ Resilience is increasingly critical, as ports operate under growing pressure from geopolitical uncertainty, climate-related events, and shifting trade routes

➤ Global growth is forecast at 2.5% in 2026, down from 2.9% in 2025.This is the lowest rate since the onset of the pandemic — with nearly two-thirds of economies seeing their forecasts downgraded since January. ⁠

➤ Developing economies will hit a post-pandemic low of 3.6% growth this year. By 2028, most will have gone nearly a decade without closing the income gap with advanced economies. ⁠

➤ Global inflation is rising to 4.0%, driven by energy price surges — with Brent crude projected to average $94 a barrel, 36% above 2025 levels. ⁠

➤ The World Bank Group is immediately making up to $60 available through existing instruments, which can be scaled up to $100 billion over 15 months if the conflict persists, to help the most vulnerable countries stabilize and recover. ⁠
