Although John Wesley spent time in Georgia as a missionary, he was not a strong proponent of overseas missions. As a result, the Methodist movement outside of England was initiated and established by lay women and men who sought to spread the gospel to places across the globe. In this video Dr. Philip Wingeier-Rayo discusses Robert and Elizabeth Strawbridge as one example of Methodist lay missionaries who made a significant impact. Dr. Wingeier-Rayo's new book John Wesley and the Origins of Methodist Missions is available now at https://www.abingdonpress.com/product/9781791035167/.
