A few moments from our theater students' final performances of the school year. Upper school students performed Radium Girls, a play that follows young factory workers poisoned by radium paint, as they fight a powerful corporation for justice and workplace safety. Middle schoolers performed Soundscapes, which uses music, sound, and storytelling to explore how sound shapes human experiences, emotions, and connections.

History 9 students wrapped up their exploration of world history with a fun project! Each year, they gather and answer compelling historical questions of their own through a deep dive research project. The students spend the last week of school presenting their research to each other in the "9th Grade World History Symposium." Some of the projects included Ancient Celtic influence on Southern Fried Rock, the history of tattoos from the Ice Age with a live henna demonstration, how medieval helmets worked with a 3D helmet, and a board game explaining the failed Mongol invasion of Japan—just to name a few!

Which stories are missing from the National Mall? Eighth-grade students in Scott McLetchie’s history classes explored that concept this spring. After visiting the Mall, students were tasked with proposing an original monument that represents a missing group, theme, or person who deserves to be honored in the nation’s capital. Learn more about their research and how they are using AI to bring their ideas to life through the link in the comments.
