It's been less than a week and we're already missing the last group of participants ! We hoped you enjoyed learning about American government and building meaningful friendships in a crazy but wonderful week! Here are some fun highlights!

There's no better Capitol Hill Day than an Exchange Student Hill Day!

A great thanks to all the offices, staff, and members who took the time to meet with this past week's Civic Education Workshop German participants. These young ambassadors are already back in their host communities being the future of the German-American relationship!

Hands up if you want to go to Congress?

The core of the program is helping further connect Germany and the United States. As a part of this week's November , current participants got to meet with offices from their host states in both houses of the US Congress. The US Congress which along with the German Bundestag (), jointly funds the program. Thank you to all the offices and members who met with our students!

For those coming to the December workshop see you all soon!

And that is a wrap on the first , where close to 100 participants came from multiple US states to learn about US Civics and government and meet with representatives from and Congress. Thanks to all who helped make this possible!

Ismail from Nigeria shared his favorite part about was not just learning about government but being able to talk to Government officials himself! Representing his voice and the voice of his country meant the world to him and to the members of the United States Congress!

"My favorite thing about CEW was going to the US congress on Capitol Hill day. On that day, meeting some of the representatives of the congress taught me how the government works and how I can use some of that to help improve my country. It felt so proud to have the opportunity to represent Nigeria in the US congress as not everybody gets to do that. I learnt how to be a capable leader and how leaders make decisions and how to work as a team."

Happy YES Appreciation Day!

For over 20 years the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program has brought high school students from +40 countries with significant Muslim populations to the United States on a life changing exchange and connected the Muslim world through long term people to people connections! A key part of that is where future young leaders come and learn about American government, civic education, and what they can do to change the world for the better!
