RAPHI REBUCAS : “Do you remember when OSA put out those videos of me counting the days TO Chile? Well, now we’re counting the days FROM Chile. And in the time I’ve spent abroad, I did a lot. Here are a few items on my bucket list that I achieved.
If OSA will allow me to dedicate this video to someone, I’d like to dedicate it to my cohort members, Chilean friends, and exchange buddies who have had to deal with my never-ending ask, “Can you film this? It would be cool for an end-of-semester recap for the GW study abroad account.”
Have I convinced you to study abroad yet? If not, I have twenty days (and one more video) to make that case.”
GW Office for Study Abroad and Student Exchange
The Office for Study Abroad (OSA) provides and facilitates quality international educational opportunities at The George Washington University.
As educators, we promote the academic, personal, professional, and intercultural development of students before, during, and after their study abroad experiences. We respond effectively to student needs, contribute to campus internationalization, and foster cultural understanding and self-awareness among the student body. The OSA primarily works with undergraduate students; some short-term, faculty-led graduate programs are administered through the OSA as well.

Nate : “After visiting my family in the UK, I went to visit both Regensburg and Nuremberg to visit some more extended family. I spent some time exploring the cities, catching up with some relatives, and getting some more rest before I head back to the states.”
fiona : “Hsinchu Dongmen Market. A morning market past its days of glory. Sat down with the elders who run the shops on the second floor. Heard their stories of how they first joined the community. Some sell antiques, others sell dresses, coffee, or tea. Many grew up in the neighborhood and frequented the market as a child. Others joined in their later years, running a cafe as their post-retirement routine. The market is a time capsule of Hsinchu’s rich history.”

Deepashish Basu : “For our excursion in Vietnam, we took the opportunity to travel to Nha Trang. Situated in South central coastline of Vietnam, it was once under the rule of the Cham Kingdom, where many of its structure still stands today like the Po Nagar. Known for its coastline and rich culture.
During my time there, we interacted with students from Nha Trang University who took us out to explore parts of Nha trang and well known areas. From the Long Son Pagoda, Po Nagar, to learning about Edible bird nests from swiflets and how its used to make products like coffee, medicine and other products.
Later, we as SIT engaged in a cross cultural exchange with the University students where we performed americans songs, enjoyed vietnamese snacks, make friends and learn from each other. We also engaged in a competition to decorate our Non la, a traditional vietnamese hat. We later ended off the day by having dry Vietnamese Pho. I have enjoyed Nha Trang so far as it’s my favorite place to visit and I look forward to returning again to enjoy the beautiful beaches and scenery.“
Makenzie Smith : “I will officially be ending my study abroad period next week. As a prepare for my exams and get ready to return to the USA, I have been reflecting on my time in London. I have meet so many new people while immersed in a constantly growing and evolving city with so much history!“

Callie : “One of the many fun things that my program did was take us to the Warwick Market in Durban. This market consists of countless stalls selling anything from clothes, food and medicine, to haircuts and IT services. It was a great place to buy souvenirs and try some of the local food!”

: “I’ve always documented my life through a film camera. However, the film camera I was using at the beginning of the semester broke very soon into it. Only recently did I take the time to acquire a new one. While film can be tedious and test my patience, there’s something so special about receiving the surprise that is your developed roll, a little bit after the trip/documented event has ended! Here are some quick snapshots from my trip to Budapest, Vienna, Prague. I totally recommend you acquire a cheap digital camera or point and shoot film camera for any and all adventures you take!”
