💙👟🧩 THANK YOU FOR WALKING WITH US 🧩👟💙

Our hearts are full.

To everyone who donated, supported, shared our mission, and walked with us in the rain, thank you. Your love, generosity, and presence made our first year supporting the Autism Speaks Walk a beautiful success.

Rain couldn’t stop the purpose.
The weather couldn’t stop the love.
And together, we showed what community truly looks like.

This walk was bigger than one day, it was about advocacy, awareness, inclusion, and standing beside families impacted by autism.

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this moment special.

💙 We’ll see you all next year.

With love,

Keenia & Takila

April is Autism Awareness Month 💙

At EmpowerED Advocates, this month holds deep meaning as we continue our mission of supporting children and families navigating the special education and IEP process.

We are proud to share that EmpowerED Advocates will be participating in the Autism Speaks Walk this year as part of our commitment to advocacy, awareness, and community impact.

Every day, we work alongside families who are seeking the resources, guidance, and support their children deserve. This walk represents more than awareness it represents action, inclusion, and empowerment.

We invite our community, partners, and supporters to join us in making a difference. Whether through a donation, sharing our mission, or simply spreading awareness, your support helps us continue this important work.

Another big win for a family we’ve been supporting.

They had been requesting a dedicated aide for four years.
At our first IEP meeting together, the request was approved, and the student has now had their aide for three weeks.

Advocacy, collaboration, and preparation can make all the difference.

Grateful to support families in making sure students receive the services they need to thrive.

Another successful IEP meeting yesterday.

The team addressed missed service hours, and a clear plan is now in place:

✔ Hours will be made up
✔ Sessions will be properly documented
✔ Services will be delivered as written

Advocacy is about accountability, and making sure students receive the support they deserve.

Ever feel like something isn’t working at school, but you can’t quite explain it?

That’s why school observations matter.

They help us see:
✔ How supports are implemented
✔ How your child engages
✔ Whether the IEP matches real-life practice

Observations bring clarity, and clarity brings solutions.

When families and schools work together, children win. 💛

I’m excited to begin working alongside a family and their daycare center to support a child’s growth, access, and success.

Strong outcomes for young children happen when families and educators work together, with shared goals, clear communication, and the child at the center of every decision.

Grateful for the opportunity to collaborate, observe, and support in a way that strengthens the classroom environment while honoring the child’s individual needs.

Looking forward to the work ahead. 💛

Today, we honor Martin Luther King Jr. and his unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and dignity for all.

Dr. King reminded us that justice is not passive, it requires action, courage, and accountability.

In education, that means:
• Ensuring every child has access to meaningful support
• Advocating when systems fall short
• Centering equity, not convenience

At EmpowerED Advocates, we believe educational justice is civil rights work… and the work continues.

Federal oversight is increasing and families should expect results, not paperwork.

If your child isn’t making progress, the IEP needs review.

💬 Comment “IEP” for our red-flag checklist.

Happy Holidays from all of us! ❄️

This season reminds us of the power of community, compassion, and showing up for one another, especially our students. Wishing you peace, joy, and a hopeful start to the new year.

📰 In the News: Staffing Shortages Continue to Impact Special Education

Across the country, schools are still facing shortages of special educators, speech pathologists, and occupational therapists — leaving many IEP services delayed or missed.

📊 What parents can do:
✔ Track service delivery
✔ Request documentation
✔ Ask for make-up hours when services aren’t provided

Your child’s progress can’t wait for “later.”

💬 Advocacy Starts with Awareness

The strongest advocates are informed advocates.
When you understand your child’s rights, you can ask better questions, set clearer goals, and hold schools accountable, without fear or frustration.

💡 EmpowerED Advocates helps parents:
✔ Decode IEPs and evaluations
✔ Navigate meetings confidently
✔ Speak up for meaningful change

Because advocacy isn’t confrontation, it’s collaboration for what your child deserves. 💪🏾
