During the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79) in , Global Liver Institute, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Population of Egypt, convened global leaders and stakeholders to advance collaboration across , metabolic health, and non-communicable disease policy.
The ministerial panel brought together representatives from , , , , , , and to explore how coordinated action can strengthen prevention, early detection, and care for steatotic and related conditions.
As liver and metabolic diseases continue to rise worldwide, this dialogue reinforced a shared global commitment to driving implementation of the WHA resolution on steatotic liver disease, turning policy recognition into concrete action.

At just 8 months old, Hannah Fleming received a life-saving after being diagnosed with , a condition that required her to receive a new as an infant. Nearly three decades later, she is now caring for transplant patients as a nurse on the same team that helps others through their own journeys.
Growing up, Hannah learned about her transplant history and the impact of donation from her family, which inspired her to pursue a career in nursing. Today, she uses her own experience as a transplant recipient to support patients facing the same uncertainty and emotions she once knew.
For Hannah, caring for transplant is a reminder of the journey that shaped her life. Through her work, advocacy for organ donation and upcoming participation in the New York City Marathon supporting the American Liver Foundation , she continues to honor the donor and family who gave her a second chance.

Last month, at the 79th World Health Assembly in , Global Liver Institute, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population of , brought together global health leaders, policymakers, advocates, and partners to advance a shared vision: making steatotic [fatty] liver disease (SLD), a recognized priority within the global non-communicable disease agenda.
Through meaningful conversations on implementation, policy, prevention, patient engagement, and cross-sector collaboration, the discussions emphasized the importance of coordinated action to address the growing burden of SLD and metabolic challenges worldwide.
Building on the momentum of the WHA resolution on SLD, the conversations in Geneva marked a critical shift from awareness to action, reinforcing that the path forward must prioritize implementation, accountability, and sustained collaboration.
