June 18, 2018, marked the release of ICD-11 by the World Health Organization, the first fully electronic revision of the International Classification of Diseases.
Designed for a more digital healthcare world, ICD-11 aims to improve how health conditions are classified, reported, and analyzed globally.
Important note for U.S. coders: ICD-11 has not been implemented in the United States for coding and reporting. We’re still using ICD-10-CM/PCS, so no need to panic.

A major telehealth billing change is on the way for Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). CMS has released the FY 2027 ICD-10-PCS code set, effective Oct. 1, 2026. The update includes 101 new codes, 3 revised codes, and 38 deleted codes, with significant additions in the New Technology section.
