📣 CONGRATULATIONS to two of our department Coordinators - Felicity and Laurie - who were selected to serve as President-Elect and Vice President of the School Nutrition Association of Utah Board! We are so proud and excited to see what they will accomplish next in their new roles! 🎉🎊

On Wednesday, we kicked off our summer lunch program with our annual celebration at Centennial Park! Thank you to everyone who joined us for some hamburgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill before participating in all the fun!

BIG THANK YOU to our community partners Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth (❤ Tusky and Jazz Bear!), West Valley City Police Department , Girl Scouts of Utah , lWest Valley City Family Fitness Center , Dairy West , Salt Lake County Health Department, Prevent Child Abuse Utah , and our Granite School District principals for providing games, engagement, and giveaways! We could not put on this event without you and your ongoing support of the community and our program!
Summer lunch will be available Monday through Friday at 15 locations until July 31st (closed for holidays on June 15th, July 3rd, and July 24th)! All children and teens 18 and eat for free; adult meal price is $3.50. We hope to see you there!

A big change in our department is happening as we had to say farewell this past week to our Director of Child Nutrition, Dana Canino. 👏

We are so grateful to Dana for her leadership for the past 10 years. Dana ushered in so much positive change in the time she was here. Whether it was helping us triumph over unprecedented challenges such as COVID-19, an earthquake, or even implementing a new operational model at a rapid pace, we were able to navigate any hardship without missing a beat! We would not have come out better and stronger without her leading the way! 🙌We are excited to send Dana off to enjoy adventures in Alaska and any new endeavors she chooses, but we will miss her! We are forever grateful for the immeasurable impact she has made on not only on school meals but on so many people - students, our department, and staff- across our district. Thank you Dana!! 💓

As we approach the end of the school year, the moments can definitely feel bittersweet when we have to say farewell to some of our amazing staff. Last week Jackling Elementary recognized their Kitchen Manager Patsy who will be retiring after 29 years with Nutrition Services! We know the students will miss her dearly - we definitely will! We wish Patsy the happiest retirement and thank her for all the hard work she has done in child nutrition!
