⚓️ Ahoy, wee sailors! Ready to explore the sea, the sky, and the wonders of the world?

Designed especially for young ones ages 1–5, Toddler Tuesdays offer a fun-filled hour of hands-on learning aboard our model ship deck inside the museum. Led by educators trained in early childhood education, each session combines stories, songs, crafts, movement, and snack time to spark curiosity, creativity, friendships, and a love of learning.

With only 10 toddlers per session, every child enjoys a personalized experience as they discover the world around them through play and exploration.

⚓ Underway & Bound for the Nation's Capitol!

The Tall Ship of Delaware is on the move, making her way across the Chesapeake Bay toward Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia, where she will take part in Sails on the Potomac, June 12–14.

This immersive waterfront festival features family activities, live music, exhibits, educational programs, public art, opportunities to tour historic vessels, meet the captains, and enjoy exclusive evening events along Alexandria's beautiful waterfront.

Meet the four tall ships you can tour during Sails on the Potomac, June 12 to 14. The Sultana is a reproduction British Royal Navy schooner from 1768 to 1772. She played a role in rising tensions in the American colonies. The Kalmar Nyckel is a reproduction of a colonial Swedish ship that landed in what became Delaware in 1638.
The Gazela was built in 1883, making her over 140 years old! She was used for fishing until the 1970s, when she became an educational vessel. And lastly Alexandria's own Providence, a reproduction of one of the first ships in the Continental Navy. She had a distinguished Revolutionary War record, including capturing more than 40 ships and escaping a blockade. Learn more: https://www.alexandriava.gov/Sails250
