Join us for a 5-week, nature-based, Montessori-inspired, play-centered summer experience for children ages 3–6 at Rattan Montessori School

Each themed week is filled with outdoor adventures, creativity, music, movement, sensory play, hands-on learning, and meaningful connection in a warm small-group environment where every child is seen and supported. 🌺

One of the most magical experiences our children share is raising butterflies and moths together. It begins with finding a tiny caterpillar in the garden. The children carefully create a safe habitat with leaves, branches, and plenty of airflow, then lovingly feed and observe their new friend each day. When it forms a chrysalis (or buries itself underground if it’s a frangipani moth) they watch in awe as nature works its quiet transformation.
Weeks later, they witness the miracle of a butterfly or moth emerging, stretching and drying its delicate wings, and finally flying free into the sky. Each time, it’s a lesson in patience, care, and the wonder of life itself. 🦋

One of the most beautiful parts of Montessori is watching a child independently choose their work. In our prepared environment, everything on the shelf is purposeful, attractive, and accessible. Children might polish a mirror, practice phonograms, explore math with golden beads, or research continents with puzzle maps.
This freedom to choose builds confidence, focus, and responsibility, the essential skills that prepare them for both academics and life. At Rattan Montessori, independence isn’t rushed; it’s nurtured gently, so children grow into it with pride and joy.

With steady hands and curious eyes, the child explores the Cylinder Blocks, feeling the subtle differences in size, shape, and depth. What seems simple is profound: an invitation to notice patterns, focus deeply, and trust one’s own discoveries. Each careful placement prepares the mind for mathematics, for understanding comparison, sequencing, and dimension through direct experience. In this quiet work, concentration blooms and learning unfolds naturally, from the inside out. 🌟
