π§ͺπ UVI Fellows Are Redefining How Science Connects with Communities
At the University of the Virgin Islands, science is moving beyond the classroom and laboratory to build stronger, more meaningful connections with the community. Through the STEM Ambassador Program (STEMAP), a partnership with the University of Utah and UVIβs Navigating Home program, UVI fellows are learning how to make science more accessible, engaging and rooted in local experiences.
From coral reef restoration and environmental education to hands-on science experiences for families and students, these projects are helping communities connect with the science that shapes our islands. ππ
βScience engagement matters because it bridges the gap between research and the community, empowering residents to be active stewards of their shores,β shared UVI Navigating Home Workforce Fellow Dr. Stephan Bitterwolf.
Meet the UVI fellows helping transform how science connects with the Virgin Islands community and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards.
