VinUniversity Participates in APRU Annual Presidents’ Meeting 2026 as Vietnam’s First APRU Member University

(Tiếng Việt dưới phần bình luận)

From 21–23 June 2026, VinUniversity participated in the APRU Annual Presidents’ Meeting 2026 in Hong Kong, joining leaders from leading research universities across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss the future of higher education in a rapidly changing world.

As the first and currently only university from Vietnam admitted to the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), VinUniversity’s participation marks an important milestone in the University’s journey toward deeper global engagement and stronger contributions to the international academic community.

Hosted under the theme “The Next Horizon: Shaping Universities for a Changing World,” this year’s meeting brought together presidents, provosts and senior university leaders to exchange perspectives on how higher education institutions can remain resilient, relevant and inclusive amid accelerating technological, social and economic transformation.

Established in 1997, APRU is one of the most prestigious university networks in the Asia-Pacific region, comprising 64 leading research universities across 20 economies around the Pacific Rim. Collectively, APRU member institutions contribute approximately 12% of the world’s academic research output and include globally renowned universities such as NUS, NTU, Tsinghua University, Peking University, University of Sydney, University of Melbourne, UCLA and UC San Diego.

Beyond its academic reputation, APRU serves as a platform for high-level dialogue and collaboration among universities, policymakers and researchers to address some of the most pressing challenges facing society today. Its initiatives span a wide range of areas, including global health, sustainable cities, disaster risk reduction, women in leadership, artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary innovation-many of which closely align with VinUniversity’s strategic priorities.

During the meeting, the VinUniversity delegation participated in leadership forums, bilateral discussions and networking sessions with partner institutions across the region. These engagements provided opportunities to explore future collaborations in research, talent development, student mobility and innovation, while also sharing perspectives from Vietnam on the role of universities in advancing national development and global progress.

As a young university with global aspirations, VinUniversity views APRU membership as more than an institutional milestone. It is an opportunity to connect Vietnam’s talent, ideas and development challenges with one of the world’s most influential academic networks, while contributing Vietnamese perspectives to regional and global conversations on the future of higher education.

VinUniversity also hopes that its participation in APRU will contribute to greater visibility for Vietnamese higher education internationally and pave the way for broader engagement between Vietnam’s academic community and leading universities across the Asia-Pacific region.

Universities as Catalysts for Sustainable Development: VinUni at THE 2026

(Tiếng Việt dưới phần bình luận)

VinUniversity is joining global leaders, researchers, policymakers, and industry partners at the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026 in Indonesia, organized by Times Higher Education, to explore how higher education can accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. GSDC is one of the biggest sustainability initiatives in the world. This year, the congress takes place from 22-25 June, bringing together 5,000 leaders driving transformative action across 6 critical pillars.

For VinUni, GSDC is more than a conference. It is an opportunity to contribute to global conversations, build strategic partnerships, and advance our commitment to creating societal impact through education, research, and innovation.

🔶 Contributing to the Climate Transition Dialogue

A key highlight is the participation of Provost Tan Yap Peng in the panel discussion "Leading Higher Education in the Climate Transition" on June 24. Alongside other academic leaders, Provost Tan Yap Peng will address how a young university in a climate-vulnerable country can accelerate the climate transition by becoming a "living laboratory".

He will share VinUni’s practical approach to translating national climate ambitions into measurable action across 4 key areas: green operation, impactful research, cross-sector partnerships and talent pipeline.

📍 Visit us at Booth D42, North Zone.
To international partners joining THE GSDC this year, we invite you to attend our sessions to exchange ideas for collaboration and visit our booth.

Bridging Academia and Governance: VinUniversity at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics

(Tiếng Việt ở dưới phần bình luận)

On June 20, VinUniversity researchers joined a high-level working session convened by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - Vietnam’s premier institution for senior leadership training - chaired by Politburo Member Assoc. Prof. Đoàn Minh Huấn, Director of the Academy.

The VinUni delegation brought expertise directly relevant to the session’s agenda:

- Dr. Nguyễn Tú Anh - Smart Green Transformation Center
(GREEN-X)
- Dr. Phạm Huy Hiệu - Deputy Director for Research & Innovation, College of Engineering & Computer Science
- Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Ngọc Doanh - Digital Twin specialist, College of Engineering & Computer Science

Discussions centred on how AI, big data, and digital twin technologies can strengthen public governance - and how training for Vietnam’s next generation of leaders needs to shift from lecture-based to practice-based, grounded in real data and real-world scenarios.

The Academy invited VinUniversity to collaborate on curriculum design for digital governance, contribute to policy advisory work, and connect its officials with the Vingroup innovation ecosystem through field-based learning.

For Vietnam’s development ambitions, the link between world-class research universities and public sector leadership has never been more important.

THE EVERYDAY MOMENTS THAT SHAPED THE JOURNEY
(Tiếng Việt dưới phần bình luận)

The group meetings ran longer than expected. The last-minute print queues. The first steps into internships and professional environments.

These may have felt like small moments at the time, but each one taught our graduates how to collaborate, take ownership, and turn knowledge into action.

Together, they became part of the preparation for life beyond VinUni campus, shaping graduates who are ready to step into the world and make their mark.

| A MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE FROM A HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL GRADUATE WITH A PERFECT 4.0 GPA
(Tiếng Việt dưới phần bình luận)

“My parents are the greatest teachers in my life not because you taught me everything, but because you gave me the courage to keep learning on my own…”

Nguyễn Đỗ Thu Phương - alumni of VinUni Bachelor of Nursing program shared these moving words in Vietnamese during her graduation remarks at Harvard Medical School. Phuong graduated from the Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery program with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Behind this outstanding academic achievement were two demanding years marked by challenges, pressure, homesickness, and tears. Yet when she stood on the graduation stage, she chose to focus not on her accomplishments, but on the people who had made them possible.

She thanked her parents for giving her the courage to keep moving forward, apologized to her mother for the many busy days when she had not called home as often as she should have, and dedicated her degree to her mom as a birthday gift.

The greatest measure of a learner’s success lies not only in reaching new heights of knowledge, but also in carrying gratitude and compassion for the people whose love and support have sustained the journey.

🎉Congratulations, Thu Phuong - the pride of your family and the VinUni community!
