👉We wish to officially announce, to our community, that there will be a leadership change at Vista Junior Academy. Mr Alec Debbo leaves later this term. His successor, Mr Graham Roberts, takes over from the start of Term Three. Mr Roberts is a teacher with expansive experience who has held (and excelled in) leadership positions. In a number of schools during his career, he was seen as a ‘people person’ with great compassion and understanding, a deep Christian faith, and a genuine care for his staff and students. We hope that he will soon feel at home and enjoy his time, working among us.
BIOGRAPHY – MR GRAHAM ROBERTS
Mr Roberts hails from KZN. He went to school in Pietermaritzburg and attended the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Edgewood College of Education. He has had a career in independent schools in Southern Africa, spanning over the past 36 years. Mr Roberts spent the early years of his career at St Stithian’s College, serving nearly a decade as a teacher at the Boys’ College and as Director of Administration. He was appointed Deputy Head at Pridwin in Johannesburg before becoming School Head at Pecanwood College. Mr Roberts was approached by the Trustees of an International School in Botswana and accepted the position of Executive Head of Campus at Morula School in Selebi-Phikwe. The campus comprised of: Pre-Primary, Foundation Phase, Senior Primary and High School. He was recently Headmaster at Penryn College in Mpumalanga and the Executive Head at St Monica’s Diocesan School in the Eastern Cape. Mr Roberts lectured in educational management and administration, to aspiring educational leaders and teachers at the Thandulwazi Academy and Development Programme. Whilst at Penryn College, he was involved in the administration of Penreach (a division of Penryn College), providing in-service teacher education for under-qualified teachers and an intern programme in the Mpumalanga region, through Shalamuka Capital, under the Directorship of Mr Andile Ncontsa.
