While putting the washing out on the line I had a suitably dull thought.
Being autumn now it wasn’t sunny or particularly warm but it was quite windy.
My thought was - which conditions would dry clothes the quickest? A cool day but quite windy, or a sunny and hot day but the air was completely still?
Male 51, UK10 - had a banana but clearly not to scale compared to the washing! πŸ™‚

Behold the mandoline, the kitchen tool that is the exact opposite of dull. 😳πŸ”ͺ

This particular specimen was acquired at a garage sale, where the previous owner confessed they were too afraid to use it.

After reducing 8 pounds of onions to perfectly uniform 1/8-inch slices, I understand their hesitation.

This device has one mission in life: to remind you that fingerprints are optional.

Even I won't drink while using it, and I always drink while cooking. That's the level of respect this thing commands.

Miraculously, there was no bloodshed this time.

Eight-inch chef's knife included for scale, because bananas seemed too vulnerable to be brought anywhere near this instrument of precision and terror. πŸ˜„

Dull, but fascinating (at least to me)…

I'm continually amazed by the sheer strength of tires.

This photo is of the rear passenger-side tire on my work van. The van itself weighs about **11,700 pounds**, so it's no lightweight. πŸ˜„

What blows my mind is that tires can:

* Support enormous amounts of weight
* Absorb bumps and potholes
* Survive years of abuse on rough asphalt
* Barely deform, even in situations like this

In this photo, roughly 40% of the tire isn't even in contact with the ground, meaning all that weight is being supported by the outer portion of the tire. And yet it hardly changes shape.

It's basically a giant rubber-and-steel air spring that quietly does its job day after day without any recognition.

Amazing stuff.

Sometimes I think engineers deserve more credit for making ordinary things extraordinarily reliable. πŸšπŸ›ž

Bought an airless tire for my lawn cart and was immediately amazed by the dull perfection of the completely useless air valve.

There it sits, proudly pretending it has a purpose. πŸ˜„

Edit: My badβ€”and I even know better. Nothing quite like achieving internet notoriety through your own stupidity. πŸ˜‚

Apparently, the world's most unnecessary air ni**le isn't unnecessary after all. Who knew?

Sometimes the greatest dull discoveries are the ones that turn around and educate you.

No banana for scale, but I assure you the embarrassment is full-sized.

Heaven help our poor, long-suffering, decidedly un-dull spouses. πŸ˜†

Mine issued quite a few expletives and eye rolls after I spotted this glorious bit of dullness and immediately sprinted away while shouting, β€œI gotta get a banana for scale!”

Also, a huge shout-out to the Target employee who silently handed me a banana without asking a single question. No judgment. No hesitation. Just quiet support for whatever weird mission I was clearly on. πŸŒπŸ˜‚

Sometimes you find your people in the most unexpected places.

41 (maybe 42? Honestly, who knows anymore πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ), F, size 9 shoes.

In Japan, nearly everyone reverse-parks.

At first, I thought it was just a coincidence, but after seeing it over and over again, I started wondering if there’s a reason behind it.

Is it:

* A cultural thing?
* Something taught in driving school?
* Safer?
* More convenient?
* Better in case of emergencies?
* Or is it simply considered proper etiquette?

I know reverse parking is common in some places, but in Japan it seems like almost everyone does it.

Curious if anyone from Japan (or anyone who has lived there) can explain why. πŸš—πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅

The dogs passed on the banana and instead chose to be tied to lockers #121 and #124 at Eden Prairie High School, perfectly matching the number of seconds they each appear on stage in *Legally Blonde*.

I can only assume this was their way of honoring their theatrical achievements. 🐢🎭

Some dogs chase squirrels. These two apparently prefer accurate representations of their stage time.

I don't know what delights me more: the fact that someone noticed the coincidence, or the fact that we all agreed it warranted photographic documentation.

Fame is fleeting, but locker assignments are forever. πŸ˜„

No banana for scale, as it was unanimously rejected by the cast.

This is the most untangled a garden hose will ever be.

For this brief, glorious moment, it exists in a state of perfection.

No kinks. No mysterious loops. No knots that somehow appeared while it sat untouched in the garage.

By tomorrow, it will undoubtedly have returned to its natural state of chaos.

But today… today we celebrate. 😌

I know this level of order is temporary, and perhaps that's what makes it so beautiful.

Nature is healing. 🌿🚿

No banana for scale, as I didn't want to tempt fate by moving anything.

I've got a brand new car! πŸ˜„

Only **43 km on the clock!**

I don't think I've ever owned anything with so few kilometers on it. It almost feels wrong to drive it.

Outside temperature included for scale, since I didn't have a banana handy. πŸŒ‘οΈπŸš—

Now begins the exciting process of turning "brand new" into "slightly used." πŸ˜†
