Good day. Please do not follow the fake news stating that Avoca Secondary is closed tomorrow. We will be opened tomorrow.
Admissions for 2023 will be open until 30 September 2022. School Fees for 2023 will only be determined at the Annual Budget meeting in November 2022.
Good evening. Kindly note that electricity was restored at school today but water is still not available...3 days now. As per KZN 44 of 2022 all schools will close at 11.00 on Thursday (14th April 2022) for the Easter Weekend.
We are all aware that there are many who have experienced challenges as a result of the continuous rain, the subsequent flooding and serious damage that has occurred.
Avoca Secondary School has also experienced similar challenges - classrooms and the bottom grounds have been flooded, trees fallen down, and the retaining wall near the tuckshop has been further compromised. We were able to start a mop up today with limited support staff who reported for duty, which is entirely understandable under the circumstances.
The KZN Department of Education, always puts that the safety of the school as a priority. And as such we cannot say that the school is sufficiently safe for the return of learners; and coupled with that many learners will still find the roads dangerous to travel on and may not even be able to access any transport.
We have therefore taken a decision to suspend tuition for tomorrow (13th April 2022). We also pray for those who are facing many challenges in these trying times. Please take care and stay safe everybody.
