The process of attaining a FIREARM license in SA consists of 2 phases, COMPLIANCE TRAINING and APPLICATION.
Join us for an in-depth look at the COMPLIANCE component.

📍You will be required to complete training modules called Unit Standards.
📍Completing each unit standard is required to receive clearance to apply for that particular Firearm competency.
📍You only need to complete the training for each individual module once.
📍Once you successfully pass the training you will receive a set of training certificates that you must keep and provide copies of to SAPS.
📍You may complete any of these units in a combo that will save money and time.
📍If you complete multiple units together, you will only have to do your Competency Application once, as you may apply for all the fi****ms you have completed training for at the same time.

SAQA – 117705: Demonstrate Knowledge of Fi****ms Control Act 2000 (Act No 60 of 2000)
📍is critical and the learner cannot complete any further units until this unit has been passed

SAQA – 119649: Handle and Use of a Handgun
SAQA – 119650: Handle and Use of a Self-loading Rifle or Carbine
SAQA – 119651: Handle and Use of a Manually Operated Rifle or Carbine
SAQA – 119652: Handle and Use of a Shotgun
📍You will need to complete the above applicable units, relevant to the firearm you wish to apply for Competency and License.

SAQA – 123511: Handle and Use of a Self-loading rifle or carbine for business purpose
SAQA – 123514: Handle and Use of a Shotgun for business purposes
SAQA – 123515: Handle and Use of a Handgun for business purposes
SAQA – 123519: Handle and Use of a Man. operated Rifle / Carbine for business purposes
📍You will need to complete each of the above units after completing the previous applicable private units if you want to work as an Armed Security Officer.

📍Only if you lose your training certificates and the training center where you originally trained has closed down, you will have to redo the training with a new training provider.
