Fifty years ago, young South Africans changed the course of history. This Youth Day, we asked the youth of GIBS what that legacy means to them and where they see their generation taking it. Their insights remind us that the spirit of '76 is alive, ambitious and looking firmly forward.

Happy Youth Day, South Africa.

15/06/2026

As South Africa marks 50 years since the 1976 Youth Uprising, join GIBS Faculty Dr Steven Zwane on SAfm for a special five-part series exploring the legacy of Youth Day and what it means for today’s generation.

Tune in as he reflects on the power of remembrance, the responsibility of action, and the role young people can play in shaping South Africa’s future.
