In the latest episode of Energy Conversations, Necsa Group CEO Loyiso Tyabashe explains why that's about to change.

With PBMR's revival and South Africa's renewed nuclear programme, he expects that experience to come home, alongside a new generation trained for it.

Nuclear is back at the heart of South Africa's energy plan.

The lights are staying on, the power market is opening up to competition, and after years of stop-start, new nuclear power is firmly back on the table.

We sat down with Loyiso Tyabashe, Group CEO of NECSA, to unpack what nuclear's revival really means for clean, low-carbon power, and for the skills and careers it'll take to deliver it.

Last week, Wits Business School hosted the Pathways to Impact: Transforming Doctoral Research into Societal Value workshop - bringing together PhD candidates and distinguished international partners to explore how doctoral research can move beyond academic publications and into real-world solutions.

In collaboration with Dr Antonis Livieratos and Aliki Nianaki from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), Christina Theodoraki from Aix-Marseille University (France), and WBS academics Euphemia Godspower-Akpomiemie and Sylvester Senyo Horvey, the workshop challenged scholars to think about research valorisation - translating their work into innovation and societal value.

The workshop included visits to the Wits Crucible Centre for Entrepreneurship, Jozi My Jozi, and the Wits Innovation Centre.
