Recently, the STH, in collaboration with the Disability Unit PsyCaD, hosted Lunch in the Dark. This immersive dining experience was designed to challenge perceptions, foster empathy, and redefine hospitality training.
More than a unique event, the initiative created a live experiential learning platform for students, exposing them to inclusive service delivery, accessibility awareness, stakeholder engagement, sensory dining concepts, and socially conscious hospitality practices.
The experience also highlighted the value of collaboration between academia, institutional partners, and industry-aligned stakeholders in shaping graduates who are both industry-ready and socially aware.
As UJ celebrates 21 years of impact, the STH continues to reimagine hospitality education through transformative learning experiences that prepare students not only for careers but for meaningful leadership in industry and society.
