It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Nicolette Anastassopoulos (Class of 1984).

Nicolette was a proud SAHETI alumna whose life was dedicated to education, learning, and the empowerment of children. A qualified reading therapist, certified children's coach, and Foundation Phase teacher, she touched countless lives through her passion for storytelling, critical thinking, and nurturing young minds.

Inspired by the wisdom of Socrates, "Know thyself," Nicolette devoted herself to fostering self-discovery, empathy, and a love of learning in her students. Her warmth, wisdom, and commitment to education left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Nicolette remained deeply connected to SAHETI and held a profound appreciation for the values, culture, and opportunities her education provided. She carried the spirit of the school with her throughout her life and was always eager to contribute her knowledge and experience to others.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives she enriched.

May her memory be eternal.

TBT: A special trip down memory lane to 1991, when SAHETI learners proudly showcased the beauty and tradition of Greek dance. Dressed in traditional costume and united by culture, music, and heritage, these dancers embodied the spirit that continues to make SAHETI so unique today.

Moments like these remind us of the rich traditions that have shaped generations of SAHETI students and continue to inspire our community.

How special it was to have alumni join us for this landmark occasion as SAHETI officially broke ground on its future.

On 8 June 2026, SAHETI School marked a defining and historic milestone with the official soil-turning ceremony for the new Indoor Court Sports Precinct—a transformative development and the most significant capital investment in the school's sporting history.

Adding even greater meaning to the occasion was the presence of alumni whose own journeys began on these grounds. Seeing former students return to celebrate and contribute to the future of SAHETI is a powerful reminder of the lifelong connection our alumni share with the school.

As we build for future generations, we are proud to honour the past, celebrate the present, and embrace the exciting future ahead.

Special thanks to Peter Valasis (Class of 2003) and Joanne Valasis (Class of 2001), architects from ATMOS Architects responsible for the project; Maria Gerondoudis Mouchtis (Class of 1992), SAHETI Alumni Chair; Gary Ttappous (Class of 1981), Chairman of the SAHETI Board; Janet Lauder (Class of 2003); and Kassandra Simoes (Class of 2009).

Ivor Crabbia (Class of 1995) is the head of the Built and Environment and Projects Committee.

Thirty-seven years ago Peter Valasis and Thirty-nine years ago, Joanne Valasis began their journey at SAHETI. So much of who they are today was shaped by this school, its community, and these very grounds.

Today, Joanne and Peter Valasis return as architects to break ground on the new Indoor Sports Centre—a meaningful full-circle moment.

They are grateful to be part of this remarkable journey and excited to contribute to the next chapter of SAHETI’s story.
