After diving deep into learning about our incredible African wildlife, our Grade 2 boys turned into mini-creatives! Their mission? Design innovative, custom products to solve real-world problems... for their favourite animals.
The ideas were absolutely wild! The boys pitched their brilliant solutions through colourful advertising posters, but the real highlight was kicking off the campaign at the Johannesburg Zoo to meet some of their potential "customers" face-to-face.
Watch out, world - the next generation of inventors is right here!
Pridwin Preparatory School
An independent preparatory school for boys, offering excellence in education since 1923. This bears testimony to our high expectations.
Located in the heart of Melrose, close to the Rosebank CBD in Johannesburg. Pridwin Preparatory is a school with a long-standing tradition of educational service to its community. We passionately believe that our school exists for its young people, the boys. While standing firm on traditional values such as independence, responsibility, respect, empathy, and leadership, we also have a sharp vision
Honouring the courage of the youth of 1976 and celebrating the incredible potential of the boys who will shape our tomorrow. Today, we stand inspired by the power of young voices to create lasting change.
Happy Youth Day!
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Pridwin Old Boys across the spectrum! From the rugby fields and hockey astros to the debating podiums, music halls, and academic top tiers, our alumni continue to live out our values and make their mark as they excel in their respective high schools.
Whether it is earning provincial hockey and rugby selection, achieving national musical accolades, dominating public speaking circuits, or securing top-grade academic honours - your Pridwin family is cheering you on every step of the way!
Congratulations, gents. Keep flying the Pridwin flag high!
Today, the staff decided our morning meeting needed a little... flavour. The mission? Show up to the staff briefing with our morning brew in literally anything but a cup, and see how long it would take our headmaster, Mr. Grimley, to notice!
Safe to say, the creativity was absolutely out of this world! From sipping cappuccinos out of actual ostrich eggs and piggy banks, to enjoying a latte from a three-legged potjie and the back of a toy tractor... the Integr8 Lab looked wild.
The best part? Mr. Grimley went about his usual morning agenda and only noticed well into the meeting! Safe to say, he was a fantastic sport. What a chuckle to kick start the day!
Check out the video to see some of the wildest "cups" of the morning! Which one would you brave your morning hot beverage in?
On Monday evening, our boys took the stage at The Ridge for the termly Chatterbox Festival. Three talented speakers per grade were chosen to participate, bravely stepping up to foster their public speaking skills and command the room. We are incredibly proud of their outstanding performances and the well-deserved awards they brought home!
Bravo, boys! The future of public speaking is bright.
Two weeks ago, Pridwin officially rewrote the party playbook! We broke boundaries and hosted our first-ever phone-free Grade 6 & 7 Social, and the energy was absolute magic.
With a Retro Rewind theme, we threw it back to an era of cassette tapes, Polaroid cameras, and blissfully zero Wi-Fi. Phones were locked away in safes, trading screen time for real-life face time. The result? An epic night of actual connection, old-school party games, and non-stop dancing under the stars.
A massive thank you to the legendary Grade 7 parents who organised this fun-filled and filter-free party!

"Our students don't just need us to give them answers; they need us to teach them how to ask the right questions."
The learning never stops for teachers! Pridwin was absolutely thrilled to host educators and school leaders from across Southern Africa for a phenomenal conference, "From Mindset to Practice: Deepening Inquiry Across Classrooms and Grade Levels." This incredible event featured global inquiry authority Trevor MacKenzie and was proudly organised by Thinking Schools South Africa (TSSA).
The energy on campus was electric as we bypassed the educational buzzwords and got stuck into the real, practical magic of classroom inquiry. Trevor challenged us to rethink the traditional roles of both teacher and learner, pushing us to step back so our boys can step up! From interactive workshops to analysing real classroom footage, it was an incredible day of collaboration designed to spark genuine student agency, voice, and deep thinking.
At Pridwin, we are committed to moving great ideas from a beautiful philosophy into a daily classroom reality. We left with notebooks bursting with ideas, and the momentum doesn't stop here!
A massive thank you to Trevor MacKenzie, Sonja Vandeleur from TSSA, and to all the passionate educators who joined us. The future of learning at Pridwin is bright, curious, and driven by inquiry!
On Friday, Pridwin came together for a spectacular Africa Day celebration. Our boys marked the occasion with a special assembly, dressing in beautiful attire that proudly represents the rich diversity and pride of African identity.
The celebrations extended beyond the assembly, as we were treated to a proudly South African hot lunch and immersed in incredible music. We enjoyed vibrant performances from our Marimba groups, as well as our special African ensemble playing unique instruments sourced from all over Africa.
While Pridwin is home to boys from all corners of the globe, today serves as a powerful reminder of our shared identity. No matter where our families originate, we walk the same corridors and live by the spirit of Ubuntu - the profound truth that "I am because we are."
Through rhythm, colour, and community, our boys showed that unity and heritage go hand in hand.
A huge part of the success our sporting teams enjoy is down to incredible leadership! Our sports captains play a pivotal role on and off the field - not just by encouraging their teammates, but by setting the standard for sportsmanship, driving team strategy, and leading by example through every win and challenge.
A massive congratulations to our newly appointed captains for Athletics, Rugby, Tennis, and Cross Country! We know you will lead your teams with pride and passion.
