The ETDP SETA was proud to be part of the 2026 National Youth Day Commemoration at the FNB Stadium precinct in Nasrec, Johannesburg, where we participated and exhibited alongside other SETAs, government departments, public entities, youth organisations and partners.

Marking 50 years since the 1976 Youth Uprising, the day was a moving reminder of the courage of young people who stood up for the right to learn. Under the theme RESET@50 – The Future Calls, the commemoration also challenged us to reflect on the future we are building for the youth of today.

At the ETDP SETA exhibition stand, we had the opportunity to engage with learners, young people and stakeholders about education, training and skills development opportunities. These conversations reminded us that young people are eager to learn, grow and take their place in the economy; they simply need access, guidance and support.

In his address, President Cyril Ramaphosa highlighted the importance of ensuring that opportunities lead to skills, work, enterprise, ownership and dignity for young people.

For the ETDP SETA, Youth Day is about more than remembrance. It is about listening to young people, sharing information, opening doors and playing our part in helping them build the future they deserve.

A meaningful step forward for practical skills development✨

Yesterday, the ETDP SETA was honoured to be part of the successful launch of the 4IR Centre of Excellence and Learning Factory at Eastcape Midlands TVET College.

These initiatives are about more than infrastructure. They are about the students and artisans who will gain access to practical training, emerging technologies and learning spaces that prepare them for real opportunities in a changing world of work.

The 4IR Centre of Excellence, funded by ETDP SETA and the Learning Factory, funded by merSETA Social, reflect what is possible when partners work together to invest in people, skills and the future.
