When Elzaan Snyman was nominated for the PAOTY 2021 Awards, she did not realise just how meaningful the experience would become.

What she thought was simply an award became so much more.

For years, Elzaan had poured herself into her role, supporting, coordinating, solving problems and leading from behind the scenes, often without stopping to acknowledge the impact she was making.

The nomination encouraged her to pause, reflect and recognise the value she brings.

Going through the PAOTY process reminded her that what PAs and EAs do is not “just admin”. They are leaders, influencers and strategic partners who create order, anticipate needs and make a powerful impact on the people and organisations they support.

For Elzaan, the recognition brought confidence, visibility, renewed pride in her work and a connection to a community of like-minded professionals.

Her message is simple:

Being nominated South Africa's PA of the Year™ in 2020 came at one of the most uncertain and challenging times, during Covid and lockdown, when the world felt paused but the roles of PAs and EAs became even more demanding and critical.

For Julie Ivason, the Awards process became so much more than recognition. It became a personal test of resilience.

The journey encouraged her to reflect on her career, her purpose and the value she brings, even in difficult circumstances. It strengthened her confidence and reminded her that adaptability, leadership and heart are at the core of what PAs and EAs do every day.

Winning South Africa's PA of the Year™ 2020 was not just about the title. It was about overcoming, persevering and being reminded that our work, our dedication and our impact truly matter.
