Youth Day 2026 | 50 Years of Youth Activism for Educational Transformation (1976–2026)
As South Africa commemorates the 50th anniversary of the 16 June 1976 Soweto Uprising, Sedibeng TVET College, as an institution of higher learning, pays tribute to the resilience, courage and sacrifice of the young people whose pursuit of educational justice helped shape the democratic society we serve today.
This historic milestone reminds us of the transformative power of education and the responsibility of academic institutions to cultivate critical thinking, innovation and ethical leadership among the youth. As we honour the legacy of 1976, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering students through quality technical and vocational education that contributes to national development and social progress.
The youth of today carry the potential to become the scholars, professionals, and change agents who will define South Africa's future.

TLP (Teaching and Learning Plan) Monitoring and Verification
09 – 10 June 2026 | Sedibeng TVET College – Vereeniging Campus
The Gauteng and Free State Regional Officials conducted a TLP Monitoring and Verification visit at Sedibeng TVET College. The process is an evidence-based evaluation aimed at monitoring key aspects of teaching and learning, providing support to the College, and reporting to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
Day 1 (09 June 2026) focused on the presentation and verification of evidence.
Day 2 (10 June 2026) included campus walkabouts and inspections of the Mechatronics, Automotive, and Electrical workshops at the Vereeniging Campus.
The Sedibeng TVET College Central Academic Team, Campus Managers, and Heads of Departments, led by the Deputy Principal: Academic (DPA), represented the College exceptionally well throughout the monitoring and verification process.
The College was found to be compliant, reflecting its continued commitment to quality teaching, governance, and student success.

SEDIBENG TVET COLLEGE POLICY REVIEW WORKSHOP 2026
The college embarked on an extensive policy review process. Role players included key stakeholders viz. The college council led by Dr Gwendolene van der Berg, the deputy chairperson, Ms M Mdletshe, management led by Dr MG Mothapo as well as Assistant Directors and campus managers.
The process started on the 29th of May 2026 and was concluded on a high note where council was commemoration two years in office as well as the milestones achieved. The participants took a moment to acknowledge the accounting officer’s belated birthday.
