Our very own fourth-year Bachelor of Environmental Health students from UNICOHS are currently in Itezhi-Tezhi for a special field learning program focused on management.

Away from the lecture rooms, they’re getting hands-on experience in how environmental health actually works in real communities. From water safety and sanitation to waste management and health education, the students are working with local health officers and community leaders to understand planning, decision-making, and leadership on the ground.

It’s all about making them field-ready.
At UNICOHS, we believe good environmental health officers don’t just know the theory – they know how to manage teams, solve real problems and protect communities with the resources they have.

The students will wrap up by presenting their findings and recommendations to Itezhi-Tezhi authorities.

EAQAZ APPLAUDS FREE EDUCATION NOW ENSHRINED IN LAW

Lusaka, 7th June, 2026

The Educational Association for Quality Assurance in Zambia (EAQAZ) joins the nation in celebrating President Hakainde Hichilema’s signing of the Free Education Bill into law.

This is more than a legal milestone. It is a clear investment in equity, national development, and human dignity.
In communities where household incomes vary widely, and where rural families often face the greatest barriers, free education gives every child a chance to walk through the classroom door.

At EAQAZ, we believe access and quality must go hand in hand.

Today we pause to honor African Freedom Day with gratitude and pride.

We remember the men and women who stood up, spoke out and gave everything so we could call this land our own. Because of them, Zambia is free. Because of them, we as Africans decide our future.

Freedom means we can learn in our own universities, teach in our own languages, and solve our own problems.
At UNICOHS, we see that freedom every day. It is in the student who becomes the first graduate in their family. It is in the lecturer who chooses to serve here at home. It is in the research that tackles the health challenges our communities face.

We have come far. Zambia has built schools, hospitals and institutions like UNICOHS that train the people who keep our nation strong.
