PLAYGROUND UPDATE!!
During our holiday renovations, I also decided to extend our top playground at the back so that we could add more wonderful areas for our Squiffles to enjoy outside!
🌾 a new patch of lawn
🧑🏫 an AMAZING giant homemade blackboard!!
🌸 a small flower bed
⚜️ paving in areas that were sandy before
🌉 revamped our much loved wooden bridge & dry riverbed
🧱 lovely new red brick walls
🪵 a new solid wood balance beam
🧑🏽🍳🤎 another mud kitchen (fully repurposed from recycled items we already had!!) because we LOVE our mud kitchen play!
🍃🪨 extra sensory areas at our sandbox corner
🚿 an outside sink for washing hands
It makes my heart SO happy to see all our Squiffles loving this new part of the playground and living their best little lives here - barefoot in the sunshine… learning, exploring, and imagining outside, just where they should be 🥰☀️🌳👣

Process Art is the best 🎨🖼️
Painting under our trees in the playground, adding different textures and layers, incorporating free painting and stencilling… creating these African sunset scenes and clay pots was an imaginative journey over the course of a week, and the results are GORGEOUS! And each one is beautifully unique! 🤩

Marimbas - one of the most beautiful sounding instruments… Especially when they’re played by our Squiffles under our trees!
Add several djembe drums, a handful of parents, and one charismatic Coach Kelvin and you’ve got the recipe for an hour of such goodness for our souls 🫶🏼🌳🪘🎶
Our Africa Day celebrations continuing in the best way!

🌍🇿🇼❤️ We’ve been celebrating Africa Day all week at Squiffle Tots!
Our annual Squiffles Traditional Lunch was a wonderful highlight, with our delicious sadza being cooked over the fire under the trees in our playground 🔥🍚🌽 Paired with tasty home-cooked muriwo, sweet boiled butternut, and nutritious nyimo beans, it was a wholesome feast that celebrated both culture and healthy eating! 🥬🫘
Our Squiffles also enjoyed sensory trays exploring Zimbabwean animals and traditional culture, while proudly dressed in their colourful traditional outfits 💚🧡 Curious little hands, joyful giggles, and meaningful, hands-on learning… the morning was a beautiful celebration of our heritage 🌿✨

Our beautiful new eating room! 🤩
Complete with a very handy hatch into the kitchen, plus we’ve removed old doors and windows to create easy access between the sleeping room, the eating room, and our classrooms… giving us lots more room and wall space for individual storage shelves for each of our Squiffles 💯🌈🎒
We are so excited and beyond grateful to have been able to improve our school with this addition - after 10 years of covered but al fresco eating, we now have an amazing, proper little canteen-style, fully enclosed room to eat our snacks and lunches… Woweeee!! 🙌🏼

🌼 A gentle, joyful place to begin 🌈
We have a few extra enrolment places available this term!
At Squiffle Tots, childhood is celebrated slowly and beautifully. Our small group setting creates a calm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, known, and deeply cared for… just like a second home ❤️
Through play, creativity, exploration, and meaningful connection, we support little ones as they grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence… And what a privilege it is to do that!
🌿 Outdoor play is at the heart of our days!
Whether it’s splashing in puddles, digging in the sandpit, cooking in our mud kitchens, nature walks, or imaginative adventures in our treehouses - we believe a lot of the richest learning happens with muddy hands and fresh air!
👶 Small group. Big, warm hearts. Plenty of wonder.
We would love to welcome a few new families into our Squiffle Tots family!

I keep imagining our Squiffles back at school and going about their days in these new spaces…

We have been SO busy these holidays with some exciting upgrades to our beautiful little school!!! ⬆️🏫🌳 We are working very hard to add some modern touches and improve several areas, refurbing all 3 bathrooms, and making a big change to our eating room. The amount of dust and mess alllllll over everything and everywhere has been mind blowing 🤯🫣 but it will all be worth it in the end. We can’t wait to show you everything finished, clean, and ready for school in a couple of weeks! 🙌🏼🤩
