Pleased to share with you a recent publication of the limnology of Tugwi Mukosi Dam (Zimbabwe's largest inland reservoir) by authors affiliated to the University of Zimbabwe Lake Kariba Research Station. The samples were analysed at the research station which further shows the station's commitment to contributing quality research work to the scientific community.

Yesterday we commenced production of our Oyster mushsroom (Pleurotus ostreatus). Only 2 weeks are needed for the spawn to grow to full web of root-like threads of mycelium and colonise the growing substrate. For now we wait and see how it goes. Stay tuned for more updates!

Last week we resumed our routine Water Quality Monitoring exercise. It was raining but the team would not be deterred.

Last week we concluded our Lake Monitoring program for the year with the Biodiversity Survey around Lake Kariba. It was quite an experience. Preliminary results indicate our fish diversity is still okay however the invasive Australian red claw crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) has spread to all the Lake basins.
