𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 - 𝐀𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐇𝐎𝐒/𝐅𝟎𝟑

Congratulations to Aaron Denenga HOS/F03, Board Chairman of Kutsaga Research, on being named Runner-Up for Best Performing Board Chairman at the National Service Delivery Awards.

This recognition reflects not only his leadership, but the continued growth and transformation of Kutsaga as a leader in agricultural innovation and sustainability in Zimbabwe.

A fantastic achievement — well deserved.

𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 - 𝐉𝐢𝐦 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐆/𝟔𝟔

We are saddened to share the news that Johnny “Jim” Holden (G/66) passed away peacefully in March 2026 in Newport Beach, California, having spent his final day surrounded by family and friends.

Johnny was a larger-than-life character whose warmth, energy and spirit fostered friendships across the world. At Peterhouse, he was proud to have captained the 1966 Rugby 1st XV, the only team to remain unbeaten — a record that still stands today.

He went on to enjoy an extraordinary international career in travel and safari leadership, living and working in the UK, USA and Kenya, and later founding Holden Safaris in 2018. He was not only the founder, but the heart behind it — a storyteller, relationship-builder, and passionate advocate for Africa and its people.

Johnny will be greatly missed by his many friends. His spirit will live on in every safari, every sunrise over the savannah, and every life touched by the journeys he created.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margie, and is survived by his son David, his daughter Beatrice, and his two granddaughters.

UK Petrean Branch – Q1 Social

A small group of Petreans met in London last night for the UK Branch’s first social of the year. The evening was hosted by Fergus Chance and Derrick Sanyahumbi at the Antelope Pub.

It’s always great to reconnect with our roots, share stories, and enjoy conversations with like-minded Petreans.

Thank you to all the Winnipeg Petreans who still came out in –18°C for the meetup.

It was incredible to see so many Petreans come out of the woodwork. We shared memories, laughter, and valuable knowledge, and it truly reminded us of the strength of our community.

As a result, the WhatsApp chat has officially evolved from a meetup group into a community group—because we’ll be supporting one another beyond events and staying connected in each other’s lives.

It is wonderful to see that, after so many decades, the Petrean community can still come together and have such a great time. One of our Petreans even arrived in Peterhouse regalia — a beautifully nostalgic and symbolic reminder that the Peterhouse spirit never leaves us, wherever life may take us.

We were also proud to gather at a restaurant owned by members of the Sub-Saharan African community, making the evening even more meaningful as we celebrated connection, heritage, and shared community.
